What is Interfaith?
One God, many paths...
The spirit of interfaith is welcoming, all-inclusive, and honors all
faiths, traditions, cultures and paths. Interfaith belief is
that there is one Creator, whether that form be a single entity or
several and that there are many paths to initiating and creating a
lifelong relationship with God.
However, we identify “God”, Great Spirit, Creator, Allah, Yahweh,
Krishna, Higher Self, Goddess, One, All That Is, the Divine, or
Ruhka, by what ever name, S/He has given us great gifts, the gift of
human life, the gift of a beautiful planet to live and the greatest
gift of all, love. No matter what our path, we are all love.
This is our connection to the Creator and to each other.
Some people, even though they may have been raised in a religious
tradition, find it does not meet their spiritual needs. They may be
put off by the rules, regulations and prejudices of organized
religion. Yet, they still yearn for a spiritual connection.
They believe there is a “God” but may not be sure how to fit
spirituality into their lives. The idea of interfaith is shift
the focus from dogma and documents to sharing with each other how
one sees the Divine, and how the Divine uplifts them and guides them
in their daily life. Interfaith focuses on the similarities in
all religions, not the differences.
The all-embracing nature of interfaith appeals to people who would
like to have a relationship with God in an open community of
celebration and worship. In an interfaith community all
traditions can be studied and celebrated and understood as valid
paths for those who choose them.
All paths to God are valid and deserve respect. Awareness and
knowledge about different paths make it easier it is to honor them
all.
Blessings,
